A Menage a’ Romance Writing

Three women talk romance and erotic writing with one man, Sascha Ilyvich, on
his Internet radio broadcast: The Unnamed Romance Show.

They discuss everything from writer’s block to relying on other writers for
advice and inspiration and, more importantly, the progression from wanting
to doing.

None of them started out as a romance or erotica writer. Each was making a
living doing something else, when, suddenly, they heard the voice of their
muse and were compelled to write. Kate Douglas, was a cartoonist; Treva
Harte, a trademark lawyer; Diane Whiteside, a database engineer;  Sascha, an
information technology specialist,  when each answered their call.

Today, Kate Douglas is the lead author for Kensington’s erotic romance line,
Aphrodisia.  Her Wolf Tales series pushes all the boundaries and her books
continue to go into additional printings as more readers discover that, at
least once in awhile, those boundaries need to be pushed. Her Wolf Tales VII
was Romantic Times Magazine Top pick for January 2009.

Treva Harte writes sensual romances with a paranormal bent. Her stories and
novellas contain everything from time travel to witches to suspense.  A
winner of the CAPA 2003 award for excellence in the Erotic Fantasy Romance
category, she offers a unique perspective on romance writing because she’s
also publisher. Treva started her own e-publishing company Loose Id because
she was fed up with trying to write the way print publishers wanted.

Diane Whiteside holds graduate degrees in technology and worked as a
database consultant with the military and law enforcement.   After years of
visiting historical sites throughout the American West, one day a story from
Old Tombstone demanded to be retold for a modern audience. She now writes
historical romance novels and romantic speculative fiction set in the West
and often draws upon her family’s stories for inspiration.

Finally, Sascha Ilyvich was an information programmer when he listened to
his muse seven years ago. His paranormal romances have been listed under the
Road to Romance’s recommended read list, as well nominated for the CAPA. As
a heterosexual male romance author, he is in very rare company.

This special 50 minute show was recorded during this year’s Romance Writers’
Association National Convention and can be heard only on Radio Dentata (
