Helen Madden Unleashes Her Prurient Imagination on Radio Dentata

Helen E. H. Madden has sex on the mind. She writes, draws and, now, performs her erotica every week on Radio Dentata.

Her show’s name is Heat Flash and science fiction is her bent. For example, in La Petite Vie, she riffs on the French terminology that describes ‘orgasm’ as a ‘little death’. In Helen’s story, Death sees a woman having an orgasm and makes it something far bigger.

Helen began her career as an erotica writer in the late 1990s. Playgirl was the inspiration or, more exactly, the instigation. “The stories were so bad, I knew I could do better” she said. “If it doesn’t get you hot, what’s the point? I want something that puts my buns on broil”.

A few months later, she sold her first erotic short story.

Before she turned to writing, Helen worked as a graphic artist, creating and cleaning up Power Point presentations for the military. “They were incredibly ugly. Ever seen a beautiful shot of a tank?”

Looking back she sees humor in the situation. “God, if they knew what I was thinking, I could have been court-martialed. At meetings, I’d be surrounded by all these guys with stiff upper lips, and upper lips were the last thing on my mind.”

When her erotic muse spoke, Helen decided to use her artistic powers for good. She quit her day job to illustrate or animate the stories she wrote or, in other words, to make erotica not war.

While the money is not as lucrative, Helen has no regrets following the lead of her fertile imagination. “Prurience not prudence is definitely the way to go,” she exclaims.
